Free Consultation visit (mandatory)

We provide a free initial visit to meet you and especially your pet. This is also an important part for your pet to get to know and feel comfortable with us.  During this initial consultation we will discuss our services and review and complete all the required paperwork.  In order to gain access to your home, we will need any keys, garage door openers/entry codes, and/or if applicable the alarm codes.

Visit times

We will do our best to accommodate your needs and will visit and care for your pet during the requested time frame, however, if an unforeseen situation arises, this time may need to be slightly adjusted.

Rabies Vaccination

We need a copy of your pet’s current rabies vaccination certificate or vaccine titer results. Please provide this copy on the date of the initial consultation. We will keep this record on file. This is very important for your own pet’s health as well as for the other pets in our care.

Service Confirmation

For PET SITTING services only, we will send a confirmation text or email 48 hours before your departure in order to verify that all information is still correct. Please make sure that our text or our e-mail is acknowledged. This is to ensure your pet’s needs are carried out as intended.

Cancellations and Early Returns For Pet Sitting Services

We understand that plans can change. Please know that we do not overbook and have turned away other pet owners to ensure we could perform your requested services. There is no fee if you cancel your service appointment with 48 hours notice. You will be charged the full service amount if you cancel with less than 48 hours notice.

Cancellations For Dog Walking

We understand that last minute cancellations occur but please understand that we are offering a very individual and personal service and empty appointment spots are very costly to us. There is no fee if you cancel your scheduled appointment with 24 hours notice. You will be charged ½ of the standard fee if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice.

In the event that we need to cancel a scheduled appointment with you, you will not be charged. If payment was already made, you will receive a credit toward a future dog walk.

All refunds are credited to future services with the exception of the death of a pet or serious illness (TBD by Unleashed). In these instances, a refund will be given.

Emergency Contact

Unleashed requests the name and phone number of a person living nearby. This should be a person close enough to walk to your home if the roads are impassable.  This person should also have keys, etc. to enter your house.

Unleashed requires the name of an emergency contact person. This person should be capable of making decisions about your pet’s care should you be unavailable. You will include this person’s name on the Veterinary/Emergency Care form.

Inclement Weather

You are entrusting Unleashed to use our best judgment in caring for your pet/s and home. If we are responsible for the care of you pet/s during a period of inclement weather (primarily severe snow or rain storms and flooding), we will carry out your instructions to the best of our ability. The safety of your pet/s is our primary concern. Every effort will be made to drive to your home however, the service schedule may be changed, interrupted or altered due to the circumstances. If it is not possible to drive safely to your home, we will need the name of a nearby emergency contact person to care for your pet/s. You will be notified about the activation of the inclement weather plan. Refunds will be credited to future services. Please remember to provide the emergency contact person access to your home.

Access to your Home by Others

If any other person is allowed access to your home during our contract period, we cannot be held liable for any damages to the property or pets as a result. Please notify us if someone will be in your home during your absence along with contact information for this person.

Fences

Fenced yards are wonderful play spaces for pets, however, no fence system is totally secure. Unleashed does not accept responsibility or liability for any pet that is injured or escapes from your yard.

Pet and house clean up

Unleashed will properly dispose of pet waste and we will do our best to clean up any accidents your pet may have, however, we are not responsible for carpet or floor stains created by your pet. We do request that you provide plastic bags, towels, cleaning products, paper towels and trash bags. Please let us know where you would like the waste disposed of.

 Leashes

All dogs are leashed during outdoor walks without exception. Please leave collars and leashes in a visible location. Please ensure that all equipment is working properly and free of tears and holes. It is highly recommended that your dog’s collar have proper and legible identification tags attached.  We may, if we feel it is necessary for your pet’s safety, use one of our collars, leashes or harnesses during the visit/walk.

Unforeseen purchases

Although we will ask you to have a larger than normal supply of food, litter, and cleaning supplies available, an unforeseen purchase may be needed for your pets well-being. This may be due to travel delays or last minute changes in your plans. We will retain a receipt and you will be responsible for reimbursement for these items.

Veterinarian care

We require all our clients to sign the Veterinary/Emergency Care form, which enables us to seek veterinarian care in case of an emergency. We will first contact you. We will then contact your veterinarian but should we not be able to reach him/her, we will bring your pet to one of the emergency clinics in the immediate area. Unleashed also requests that along with the Emergency Care Form that we have on file, that you call your veterinarian and notify them in advance that Unleashed will be caring for your pet/s and that they make a note on your file stating such.  You should also have a signed form in your pet’s chart at your veterinarian’s hospital that allows them to care for your dog.

Confirm that you are back home

For PET SITTING services only, please let us know when you have returned home safely. Otherwise Unleashed will continue visiting to assure the safety and well being of your pet/s. Please text at any hour or leave an email that you have returned.

After the service

A “Pawgress Report” will be left explaining how your pet/s enjoyed our care. We ask that you consider letting Unleashed retain your house key in the event of a future unexpected trip or an emergency. Keys are kept in a secure location and for your home’s security are coded without your address on them. If you need your key back we will drop it off at your house within 48 hours of your return home. Your garage door opener will be put in an agreed upon spot on our last visit.
